My fifth observation – ESL Intermediate speaking class (video)

I observed a really small class with only a handful of students, less than ten. The teacher was very energetic and used a lot of energy in his class and got the students up and about. The teacher used chants and played a song warm up which got the students excited and ready for the rest of the class. The teacher practiced sons with rhymes as well as aske the students to repeat after them. Throughout the class, the teacher incorporated many teaching methods and made sure students were able to follow them. Having such a small class, the teacher was able to assess the students’ learning abilities and got them speaking on their own. The teacher also managed to get them talking in their little groups and as pairs. The teacher monitored these groups or pairs when they were talking and offered meaningful feedback in return. Occasionally the teacher would correct grammar points and sentence structures. Some of the students were asked to repeat after feedback wad provided and it yielded positive results. This was a very energetic class and the students learned a few vocabularies as well at the end
