Hi, I am Saradia Raha, an ESL instructor with over three years of ESL as well as IELTS teaching experience to all age groups in domestic as well as overseas settings. My first teaching stint started as an Assistant Instructor at Thompson Rivers University, B.C, Canada for their ‘Language and Culture’ Program, Summer semester in 2016. The following year in 2017 I was back for the ‘Language and Culture’ Program this time as an English Language Instructor. That very same year I was offered a teaching position in Kaifeng, China and that was the beginning of my overseas teaching journey. I have been in Xinjiang as well as Bien Hoa, Vietnam with steady bursts of adventures and misadventures keeping me company during all of my time there.
Apart from work I spend a lot of my time creating artwork, looking at artwork, familiarizing with new and old artists and their artwork, reading (currently harboring a deep interest in psychoanalysis) everything from Lacan to Jenny Odell, to Ismat Chugtai. My world also revolves around cinema, particularly foreign films, theatre, as well as inter-sectional politics. I am forever learning, unlearning as I advance with time and newer perspectives. My ideal day involves a comforting home-cooked meal and a good dose of sunlight.
