By now we have more or less familiarized ourselves with the number of students in class and still in the process of remembering individual students’ names and where they come. I feel it is natural to take time and often asking them in a one on one context helps remember their names and background better. So our second lesson also involved a second round of introductions but there was more to it than just their names and the names of their home country. We conducted a ‘show and tell’ activity, two truths and a lie – a popular ESL activity that serves as a great ice-breaker and helps with getting to know our students more. We made sure we had questions for the students as well as conducted activities that ensures they, in turn, had questions for us too! It was a successful second lesson. The students began to feel a bit at ease, but again being their second time with new student-teachers some of them needed gentle coaxing every now and then.
